Well not many people playing MGO [especially in PBMY and lyn gamers, pwn KZ2 mp but the game is still strong in (especially in Japan) with add-on pack, special tournament, contest, promo t-shirt items, etc but i post anyway (Ninja Forgive me )

* Changes to the scoring system: Points will now be awarded for Scanning and Assists in TEAM SNEAKING and RESCUE Missions.
* Improvements for Voice Chat: Improved sound quality. * However, please note that without a quality line, there may be no noticeable improvements.
* Bug Fixes: The count for the number of times a player falls for a trap will resume as the previopus problems have now been fixed The collision detection has been corrected for the iron doors in the "Groznyi Grad" map where previously players could shoot through them.

The following problems have been fixed: - When a host leaves a game, the position of host is automatically forwarded to someone else. When someone else filled the free 16th slot, the player would be invisible to the new host. - The game would sometimes freeze if a player would invite a Clan Member while in Survival mode. - The day of the week of "Match Time" was not correctly displayed when viewing the rules in the Survival Lobby.
The following game specifications have been changed: - The motion of reloading the shotgun cannot be canceled by equipping a box or changing weapons. - Change of weapon specification: Saiga 12's cost changed from 8000DP to 5000DP. G3A3's cost changed from 5000DP to 4000DP. - Change of skill specification: "NARC" Lv2's cost from 1 to 2 "NARC" Lv3's cost from 1 to 3 *With this change, all skills will be temporarily removed, but players will be able to put them on again with the existing skill points they have.

■SURVIVAL
・The total number of the Teams currently in battle is added to "Survival match List". ・"Clan Members Only" is added to the stance of "Creat Team". *When enabled this stance, only members of your clan will be able to join the team. ・"Clan Members Only" is added to the condition of the filtering stance of "Team Select". ・On the screen of "TEAM CREATION" and "WAITING ROOM", the icon of "Spanner" is displayed next to the character name who exists in "Personal" menu etc.
■Others
・"Radar orientation" added in "Gameplay Options". ・The check menu of whether to change equipment was added in "Appearance Settings". The following problems have been fixed: - Hang-up when Liquid executes the round abort effect during a battle with spectators. - Hang-up after the error message when a player confirms the host list which includes invalid information. - You could fall below the floor level if you use Mk.Ⅱ during the M.M. sneaking mission. - Time certification error during a login session. - Hang-up when team kill kick is executed during the simultaneous attack between opponent team players. - Discrepancy of the opponent team between the tournament list and the actual opponent team during the tournament with more than 25 teams. - Weapon selection list could be broken if the team change is executed during the weapon selection window is displayed. - Sound sheltering problem: You could hear some sound effects which should not be heard that's happening at the other level that you're not in.
The following problems are under examination: - Sometimes the game would not proceed during the blackout after the tournament briefing. - Player list is not initialized if you check the player list of the clan room with nobody. This problem has been found with the latest version update.

General Information
MGO is mostly a medium-to-slow paced third person shooter build to let the players take advantage of a lot of tactics other than straight up gun and run. There are 6 games modes and a cap at 16 players. As of the date of this post, your only way in the game is through Metal Gear Solid 4 game itself, or purchase a Japanese version of the online counterpart.
Features:-
・The new SOP System gives the player an instant grasp of their teammates' locations, status, and current opponents, creating a bond between team members not found in other online games. ・A full-featured Training Mode—including Combat Training, where experienced players can provide direct guidance to newcomers—makes it easy for beginners to get into the game, while the Auto-Matching system pits combatants of the same skill level against each other. ・Using built-in email functionality and community support pages, players can communicate with others they’ve played with. ・Expansion Packs available for purchase at the MGO Shop will add features like new stages and characters, keeping the game fresh and exciting.
Controls
Character
You are free to customize the physical appearance of your character, from the voice to the gloves. Just be aware that a single Konami ID can be linked to a single character slot in game and you cannot change the major point of your appearance without resetting all your skills and stats. So choose carefully or pay Konami $7 to get a second character slot.
With GENE Expansion Release, You can choose between Male and Female with include Male and Female Voice.
Skills
The manifestation of your mighty SOP powers! There are many skills to chose from. Most of the support skills allow you to share information on the battlefield with your teammate giving you a teamplay advantage (usually showing the position of the enemy), while the weapon skills make you reload faster and cut the recoil.
You only have 4 slots to pick skills. As you use them, your skills will level up, making them more potent. However, for the weapon skills, they will start to take more slots. But all is not lost, if you don't feel like losing 3 slots to your lvl.3 sniper rifle skill you can still chose to equip the lvl.2 at the cost of not gaining experience in it anymore. Most support skills will stay at 1 slot no matter the level.
Some skills combo open new abilities for your character.
Equipment
There are 2 sets of weapons and equipment available in the game, with Drebin points on and with Drebin points off. With Drebin mode set to off, the game starts with limited types of weapons, and there's no customization for any weapons as well. With Drebin mode on, there are a lot more weapons to choose from, and vast customization options are also available for players to spend their points earned from killing enemies.
Rules of play | Modes
MGO provides several gameplay rules, fitting to both team based and solitary fighting styles.
Deathmatch pits players against each other, competing for the highest score until the ever decreasing kill counter or time reach zero. The player with the highest score is visible to others through SOP.
Stealth Deathmatch also pits players against each other, geared with stealth camo. A three level alarm informs players of enemy proximity. Eventually, the game area begins to constrict, leaving all outside it to suffer damage. There is no respawning, so the battle continues until one player is left alive, or until time runs out.
Team Deathmatch groups players into two teams, with each death decreasing the team's remaining tickets. The team to first deplete the other's tickets, or with more tickets when time runs out is the winner.
Capture Mission has teams racing to capture and hold within their goal area assigned targets, KEROTAN and GA-KO, for a cumulative period of 30 seconds. With both items in one team's goal area, the timer runs twice as fast, whereas if they are divided among goal areas, the timer is reset for both teams.
Solo Capture Mission leaves each character to fend for themselves, while also trying to keep KEROTAN in their possession for a cumulative period of 60 seconds. The character who has hold of KEROTAN is visible to others through SOP.
Rescue Mission premises the attacking team acquire GA-KO and place it in their goal area or at least hold onto it when time reaches zero, while the other team defends. As there is no respawing in this mode, a team also wins by killing all the enemy team's members.
Base Mission is structured around capturing and defending small areas scattered across the map. A team wins by seizing all bases, or by having captured more bases than the enemy team when time runs out.
Bomb mission asks of the attacking team to plant a time bomb on a designated area and ensure it detonates. A limited cache of time bombs is available, and only one can be carried at a time. The defending team wins by averting detonation, or by nullifying all bombs. A planted bomb is removed when sprayed with coolant, while a dropped bomb is destroyed if it doesn't get picked up again in a set amount of time.
Race Mission has each of two teams competing to deliver its target to a series of checkpoints. The Red Team's target is GA-KO, while the Blue Team's is KEROTAN. The target's position is reset, and the team's checkpoint changes if a target is dropped and not picked up within the allowed time limit.
Team Sneaking demands from the attacking team, equipped with stealth camo, to bring either KEROTAN or GA-KO to their goal area, while the other team defends the items. Another win condition is to kill, stun, and (only for the attacking team) hold up all enemy team members. Whenever a stealth soldier is discovered, all stealth camo is temporarily rendered non operational.
Sneaking Mission features two opposing teams, Snake, and with at least 12 participants, Metal Gear Mk II. Snake wins by collecting, through body searches, three dogtags, with each life lost resetting the count to zero. Teams claim victory by killing Snake a set amount of times, or by having scored more opposing team kills when time runs out.
Interval allows players to engage in battle with no repercussion to their statistics or skill leveling. A time bomb can be collected and passed around players to liven up the pace.
MGO Startup pack and Expansion Info
Startup Pack
The Startup Pack includes 5 maps, namely Ambush Alley, Blood Bath, Groznyj Grad, Midtown Maelstrom, and Urban Ultimatum. It also allows players to assume the role of characters from MGS4's plotline, bearing fixed skill-sets beyond the numerical limitations of ordinary soldiers'. The Startup pack offers two playable special characters, available in Sneaking missions [Snake is now playable in any modes in update 1.33]:
* Old Snake (Solid Snake), the Legendary Hero, is equipped with CQC EX and a diverse armament of lethal and non-lethal weapons. Apart from his FaceCamo and OctoCamo, the Threat Ring indicates the location of nearby characters. The Solid Eye provides a visualization of the same data through the Baseline Map, identifies items and can switch to Night Vision or Binocular mode.
* Metal Gear Mk.II, the Invisible Buddy, can back up Snake on the field. It's equipped with stealth camo and can display a magazine on its screen to captivate the interest of nearby characters. It can also use its manipulator to stun enemies, disarm mechanical traps, knock on walls, collect and deliver dogtags to Snake.
GENE Expansion
The GENE expansion pack was released on July 17, 2008. The Plus version, with an additional character slot was discontinued in Japan on November 18, 2008. Players who install the expansion can create female characters and enter the GENE specific Survival lobby. They can also compete in three new maps, Virtuous Vista, Coppertown Conflict, and Tomb of Tubes and enter battle as two special characters:
* Johnny (AKIBA), a Trap Otaku, can see all traps on the field, and disarm mechanical traps into items. Three consecutive kills stir up his chronic incontinence, resulting in a comical cloud of foul smell that can preoccupy foes and allies. When injuring a teammate, he leaves himself vulnerable while making excuses. Johhny can't use any form of CQC bar the 3 hit combo, and he has no SOP enabling nanomachines. His unique weapons include the XM8 Compact and the M82A2 Sniper Rifle, which kills with 1 shot from any range.
* Meryl, the Fiery Leader, allows nearby allies to recuperate stamina faster when saluting near them. She has CQC+ Level 2, accompanied by a slew of level 3 skills, including Monomania, Narc, Scanner, Quick Recovery, and Handgun+. Her special weapon is a scope-equipped Desert Eagle Long Barrel. Both Meryl and Johnny cry out when their other half is killed in combat.
MEME Expansion
The MEME expansion pack was released on November 25, 2008. The GENE expansion is a prerequisite to installing MEME, and a combo pack is also available. Players who install the expansion can enter Tournament mode, compete in MEME Survival lobbies and purchase MEME specific camouflage gear. They can also experience three new maps, namely Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight, and Winter Warehouse and engage in combat as two special characters:
* Mei Ling, the Remote Captain, can command the USS Missouri to cannon strike any location within visible range. Her true skills are as a recon soldier, since her Soliton Sonar radar reveals close-by enemy positions. Mei Ling can't use CQC, other than the 3 hit combo, but is equipped with the Scanner EX skill. Her salute entrances all soldiers in a small area.
* Liquid Ocelot, Guns of the Patriots, can use the namesake weapon to temporarily effect upon enemies an SOP safety lock, or a seizure, by disabling the nanomachines controlling their behavior. Much like Snake, he is equipped with CQC EX, while his three-hit combo can end in either a strong punch or a headbutt. He can shock his opponent with the knife during a choke hold. The Thor .45-70 handgun, his unique weapon, requires reload after every bullet fired but deals lethal damage within medium range. He shouts out his nemesis' name when he spots Snake. Under specific circumstances, he resets the match's timer.
SCENE Expansion
The SCENE expansion pack was released on March 17, 2009. The MEME expansion is a prerequisite to installing SCENE, and bundle packs with older expansions are available. After purchasing the expansion, players can wear SCENE specific camo gear, fight in Outer Outlet, Hazard House and Ravaged Riverfront and battle as two special characters:
* Raiden, the White-blooded Scout, can fall from any height without damage and jump on ledges that would normally require a boost, yet has no nanomachines. He handles a High Frequency Blade, operable in lethal and non-lethal mode, which allows him to deflect frontal attacks. His other unique weapons are the Mk.23 pistol and the Throwing Knife. When his Visor is closed, he can see all traps in the map.
* Vamp, the Undead Blade, can fall from any height without damage and jump on ledges that would normally require a boost. He is an expert at using the Combat Knife and Throwing Knives. Upon dying, he is resurrected on the spot.
Reward Points and Customization
Players are free to edit their character's appearance through the namesake menu. Gaining an Animal Title grants the character its corresponding T-shirt. Additional clothing, camouflage and color customizations are available in the Reward shop via Reward points, a form of in-game currency.
Survival matches grant combatants Reward points based on their win streak of matches, not individual rounds. These matches are open to all players, and players who have installed an expansion are granted entrance to the corresponding Survival lobbies.
Tournament matches, only open to players with the SCENE expansion, allot reward points based on each team's final standing, while also granting the ultimate winners gear not available in the Reward shop.
Logging a character in grants 50 reward points per day (100 on Wednesdays), while 10 reward points are added for completing a round in any (except the beginner's) Automatching lobby.

Misc
Metal Gear Online is region locked, meaning that players must be in the same video game publication territory to play together. Region restriction reduces lag, yet can be disadvantageous for the PAL designated Australian-asian players.
Konami requires the bearer of the PSN account linked to MGO be over 18 years old. Sony Customer Services can be contacted to lift this restriction in regions where MGS4 has lower age requirements.
An online beta test was available in Japan, Europe and North America. 3,000 players were allowed into the Japanese beta test from August 20 to September 3, 2007. The beta test for North America (serial key only) and Europe (no restrictions) lasted from April 25 to May 11, 2008.

METAL GEAR ARCADE
Just when you think Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima couldn't have any more surprises up his well-tailored sleeves, he elicits more "!" from you. That's what he's done to us by revealing Metal Gear Arcade, which, as it sounds, is ... an arcade game. According to Kojima, it's a reworked, networked version of Metal Gear Online designed to be played in stereoscopic 3D using special glasses.
Metal Gear Arcade will be played sitting down while wearing 3D glasses and using a "special controller that allows for separate movement and viewpoint controls." The game will also support both solo and 16-player co-op matches. It sounds like we'll be trading these quarters for yen when Metal Gear Arcade targets Japanese arcades later this year.

In the latest Kojima Productions Report podcast, we learn that Metal Gear Online will be receiving an update on June 16th. The update will allow Scene Pack owners to get access to a new Shadow Moses map and update 1.33 will be made available for US and European gamers. Also, for gamers who have the Scene Pack, Snake will be available as a character.

Race Mission and Patriot Weapon

Konami has released more specifics on the new "Race Mission" mode and "Patriot" feature for Metal Gear Online we first told you about last week. First up, the Race Mission is aptly titled, as it sees two teams attempting to pass through racing game style checkpoints after tracking down their oh-so-adorable frog and duck KEROTAN and GA-KO items. The mode's rules state that if the item is dropped and not picked up in time, its team will have to seek it out at a random spawn point. We're only guessing that the match is won by whichever team passes through the most checkpoints with cuddly mascot in-hand, as Konami oddly left that bit out. All will be revealed come May 12.
Not forgotten in today's update was word of the Patriot system, which -- at least at first -- sounds like a cool reward for the game's best players. Basically, the game will select a random set of top players each week as "Patriots," granting them access to a Patriot .56mm "hand rifle" ... which has infinite ammo and doesn't require reloading. Let's see: MGO's best players with infinite ammo and no need to reload. Sounds fair, right? We'll find out how it works out starting May 26.

Konami is pairing Metal Gear with Regain once again for a couple of Metal Gear Online cross promotions.
Starting today and running through the end of June, Seven-Eleven shops throughout Japan will stock special campaign versions of Regain 24 DX beverages. These versions include a campaign sticker with a 10-digit code that can be input into a special campaign site to get original in-game t-shirts for MGO.
Four t-shirts will be offered. However, it also appears that those who collect all four will be able to get a special bonus item.
Konami will also hold a special "Regain Cup" online event for Metal Gear Online's recent SCENE Expansion. This twenty-four hour survival event will be held on April 11 from 10:00 to 34:00. It's not necessary to stay up for the entire course of the event. Those who take part in a single match over the period will qualify for a drawing for one of twenty-four "Regain 24-Ji-Kan" Regain good bundles.

The most recent patch for MGO has changed the workings for the Animal ranks quite drastically. All information collected up to this point is to be subject to MASSIVE scrutiny.
1.30 official changes:
-Requirements for obtaining Titles have been changed. -Titles are updated weekly during the regularly scheduled maintenance. -The requirements to obtain high ranking Titles remains the same. -High ranking Title is HOUND and above. -Requirements that were previously not counted for obtaining high ranking Titles are now counted. -Titles that are not counted as high ranking are judged based on the weekly accumulation of battle results. -Now it is possible to obtain all Titles if all requirements are met.
What this all means is that your rank no longer is based on your overall performance (except for soldier ranks?), but is awarded based on how you did the previous week. Also, you can obtain multiple titles at the same time if you meet the requirements for them. The highest rank you qualify for though is still listed as your main as per the old override rule, but anything else you qualified for is added to your rank history and you get a corresponding T-shirt.
Other changes I've noticed: -Ratios seem to be much more lenient in the case of specialty ranks -Minimum time requirements were pushed up
Also, new ranks were added, I should probably mention that. Mostly mode preference ranks and some other oddities.
Since ranks are only updated weekly instead of instantly, testing will be massively slowed. Sorry, there isn't much to be done about that.
Metal Gear Online
-Animal Ranking guide
This is a simple guide to help you understand, and possibly achieve the special animal rankings for your character(s) in Metal Gear Online.
First, you need to understand how the system works:
-All ranks are now based off of your "Weekly Total" screen now, be sure to switch over to that first.
-There are no static number requirements; those are for your "Awards" page like "1000 kills" or "25 Headshots." The requirements for animal ranks are all based on ratios. So, 3 kills to 1 death is essentially the same as 300 kills to 100 deaths.
-Some ranks can be overridden by a higher rank. So let's say you are going for Bee, but end up dishing out too many headshots in the process; you’ll get Eagle, despite meeting the requirement for Bee since Eagle ranks higher. I'll list ranks from Best to Worst as per the game's standards. So a rank listed higher than another, overrides what is below it.
^^^This is only important now for the rank you want as your main display. You can obtain multiple ranks each week if you meet the requirements.
-Certain sets of ranks require a certain amount of play time. ---This has been changed since the 1.30 update, it seems to be higher now.
How to calculate ratios!
Throughout the guide, I'll mention things like "K/D" (Kill/Death) and "Win" ratios. To calculate these, use the following formulas:
-K/D ratio: (Kills divided by Deaths) -K+s/D+s ratio: (Kills + Stuns) Divided by (Deaths + Stuns received) -Win ratio: (Rounds won divided by Rounds played) x 100
Only apply ratio requirements to the match types I specify individually.

Tsuchinoko "Rarely Plays"
Requirements: 1: Do not log in for several game weeks.
Notes: This is a tricky rank to "test" for, for obvious reasons. I did in fact not log in for twenty five days and did not receive it. I'll explain: Tsuchinoko is based off the "Weekly Total" screen, It may be a certain amount of "weeks" that need to be zeroed out, but I'm not sure. I do know that Tsu will appear once you play a round after enough time has passed, and will stay until that specific week is reset. After that reset, you'll either go to any other rank you qualify for, or keep Tsu if you have nothing else. Tsuchinoko is listed at the top since it can override any rank, if only for a small period of time.
1.30 Notes: I'm also unsure how the new weekly rank updates affect TSU, if at all.

Bear "Bare hand/CQC Master"
Requirements: 1: Average 10(See notes) Melee hits per rounds played (overall) 2: Average 10(See notes) CQC attacks given per rounds played (overall)
Notes: A "Melee hit" is anything you do while standing, tapping R1. A "CQC attack" is Choke hold, slam, rifle nudge, ect. Anything that involves holding r1.
1.30 Notes: Specialty ranks seem to take lower ratios now. Bear specifically seems to take MUCH lower ratios. Granted, I didn't get much time to study it, but it would make sense for Bear to be easier, 10 per round was pretty absurd.

Bee "Scanning Master"
Requirements: 1: A certain average of "Scans Performed" per round I guess. I have heard that this rank is easy to get. I assume you don't need many scans to get it.

Chicken "Rarely Participates in Battle"
Requirements: 1: Chicken is obtained by not involving yourself in battle in any way. I don't have an accurate number, but you have to average something like less than 1 Kill, Death, Stun, and stun received each round. Basically, you want to go 0-0 as much as possible.
Notes: You supposedly can just spectate rounds all the time and get Chicken.

Pigeon "Prefers non lethal attacks"
Requirements: Again, no detailed number for this, but it involves preferring stuns over kills in some modes.

Rat "Often falls in traps"
Requirements: Rat should be a lower rank. It's simply an average of "Times Fallen For Traps" per rounds you've played. Traps involve Playboys, types of mines, C4, ect.

Tortoise "Often uses the Cardboard Box"
Requirements: 1: Total Cardboard Box uses divided by total rounds played must be higher than 15(See notes).
Notes: Just spam the box, you should get it quickly.

Well as it now, you can buy expansion pack using PSN wallet thru MGO shop (MGO game menu options). U can either use US PSN (if u play US MGO), SG and MY PSN (Can buy both US and JPN Expansion Pack)....
Honestly playing US server is ridicilous EMO (see detail on LYN MGO Thread) i recommend playing JPN MGO [great people and less lag, i think] or i think u have it, right?
