Final Fantasy Versus XIII Put On Hold Square Enix's grandiose plans for a Final Fantasy XIII three-way appear to be a bit stalled. The action oriented spin-off known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII may be coming even later than expected, which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. According to an interview with Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura in the newest issue of Famitsu, he explains that development is the side story is currently "on hold," with development staff of that game now tasked with getting FFXIII out the door. Given that it's been over two years since Square Enix first showed off its FFXIII offerings and we're still getting trailers devoid of gameplay, we certainly don't expect to see Final Fantasy XIII until well into 2009. Final Fantasy Versus XIII on Hold? No. Seb baek  June 19, 2008 - Yesterday, the interwebs brought word that the latest issue of Famitsu had an interview that stated Final Fantasy Versus XIII was being put on hold so that the team could finish Final Fantasy XIII. Square Enix says that's not the case. "Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," a company statement sent to Eurogamer says. "The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled." The issue of Famitsu in question hits newsstands on Friday and features the interview with Tetsuya Nomura, director of Versus. Final Fantasy XIII to appear at E3 Square-Enix has revealed that the company’s highly anticipated RPG Final Fantasy XIII will be making an appearance at the E3 Media and Business Summit this July. Speaking with Videogaming247.com, a company representative commented, “There’s going to be more things happening for XIII at E3.” “That’s all I can say at the moment. And throughout the year there’s more things planned as well, which should shed more light on the release timings.” Much of the game has been kept under wraps since its initial unveiling at E3 2006, although it is known the title will implement a similar battle system to Final Fantasy XII, in the sense players will participate in real-time, non-randomised battles. Summons will also be making a return in this latest instalment of the extolled RPG franchise, with the developers also looking to incorporate some form of online component. Rumours have indicated that Square is planning a significant showing at the Tokyo Games Show later this year, although this has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned. |

lol disket, my 2nd forum reply. I suspect the deal was done around the time that Infinite Undiscovery was announced , so kinda expected it. hopefully , Sony wont let their heads down and have good news for PS3 fans in their conference. fingers crossed |

hmmm.. looks like no new big 3rd party exclusive games from E3 for PS3. a bit disappointing but good show with the likes of God of War 3 and MAG(potentially my online shooter after getting bored with upcoming SOCOM). overall, Sony had the better E3 conference than its rivals , just that FFXIII exclusivity issue was a bit too sore for fans. looking at your avatar, I was thinking maybe Persona 5 exclusive for PS3, that'll be great for me at least
