Planex GW-US54Mini Wi-Fi USB dongle can act as 'Access Point'. So, we can use our PSP to access internet using the internet browser, and also enable us to play online multiplayer through infrastructure network. Follow the following instruction to setup your Planex as 'Access Point'. 1. Plug-in your Planex to your USB port. (Make sure you have install required driver and utility prior to this setup). 2. Go to 'Start' > 'Connect To' > 'Show all connections'. ![]() 3. Right-click on your broadband connection (TMNet Streamyx) and select 'Properties'. ![]() 4. Click on 'Advanced' tab, and tick 'Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection' and click 'OK'. ![]() 5. Open your Planex Utility, and change Mode to 'Access Point'. ![]() 6. Click on 'More Settings' button, and you will get the following window. On the 'Bridge Adapter' settings, select your Ethernet adapter for your Streamyx (in my case: corega FEther PCC-TXF LAN Card). ![]() 7. Click 'Change' button, and then click the 'Apply' button again. Close the window. Your initial setup is done. Now, all you have to do is to test the connection using your PSP. 8. On your PSP menu, go to 'Network Settings' > 'Infrastructure Mode'. 9. Create 'New Connection' and press > to continue. Then select 'Scan'. You will get a list of available access point in your area, and your 'Access Point' will be listed too. Select your Access Point. And, the rest just follow the instructions until finish. 10. If no problem, you should be connecting to internet through your Planex by now. Hope that helps. ;) |

Install the latest version of Planex utility. Download here: http://planex.net/driver/wireless/GW-US54M...ni_v4.11_CE.zip Note: Uninstall the previous driver before installing this. |

I'm not sure about other dongle. Should be using the same setup, maybe the a little bit different here and there. Are you using a different USB dongle, edv? |

My Storm uses the same utility program as Planex. But with different name, ZDWlan. |

It's the same. Planex uses ZDWLan.exe as well. Can be seen at the Task Manager

one question : is this thing actually works as a router from internet pc based for your psp ? i've been asking around few computer shops, they all say wifi usb dongle is a receiver only and cant be used as a router.. just need to confirm before i get one edit: okay so ninja wrote that it can act as an access point.. what's the difference between access point and router ? i've notice that most of computer shops are selling prolink usb dongle.. is it the same as planex or mystorm ? can i use prolink instead ? im sorry it turns out three questions not one :P.. |

You can set the mode to Access Point or Station. Access Point mode makes your PC an AP so you can play games via Infrastructure mode and browse the web using the PSP just like you're at Starbucks. Station mode however acts like another PSP, useful when you want to play on Xlink Kai aka virtual Ad-Hoc mode. About the Prolink dongle, I've no idea :P |
